Ukpong Nwankwo, M.D, FACP, is board certified in Internal Medicine and a fellow of the American College of Physicians, an honorary distinction awarded by the national organization that represents internists.
She received a Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Medicine degree from the University of Ibadan in June 1987. After completing her residency in Internal Medicine, she served as the chief resident at Meharry Medical College. Thereafter, she began her practice in Brownsville, Tennessee.
Dr. Nwankwo is an adjunct Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at the
Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. She has been principal investigator in numerous industry sponsored research projects.
She is loved by all her patients because she takes time to listen to their medical and social complaints. She loves teaching medical students and resident physicians.
Dr. Nwankwo’s special area of interest is in doctor-patient communication. She is interested in addressing ways to strengthen the relationship between doctors and patients.
Dr. Nwankwo treats patients ranging from adolescents to mature adults, focusing on compassionate, comprehensive primary care. She specializes in women’s issues including depression, osteoporosis and cardiac disease.
Dr. Nwankwo is a devoted member of Bethel World Outreach Church, Brentwood, Tennessee where she serves in various capacities. She and her husband Geoffrey Nwankwo, live in Franklin, Tennessee with their daughter, Faith.
